Student Life
Explore the Harvard Chan School student experience and learn about life in Boston, career paths, and opportunities to connect with the Harvard Chan community
Beyond the classroom
The Harvard Chan experience is so much more than classes and labs.
Each week, top scientists, policymakers, and community leaders share their insights in a rich array of lectures, workshops, and symposia—some of them organized by our students. There are social events, service activities, and tea times with department chairs.
One popular series: Crossroads Dinners, at which faculty and alumni share stories about moments when they faced a tough decision in their personal or professional lives, how they resolved it, and what they learned.
Find your community
Our dozens of student organizations provide fantastic opportunities for personal and professional growth, leadership development, and networking.
You’ll find groups dedicated to addressing pressing issues in the field of public health and clubs focused on the arts, music, and sports. There’s even an accelerator for social impact ventures.
The Harvard Chan Student Government Association meets regularly with School leadership to convey student views. It also organizes popular social events, including I-Night, an annual celebration of the diverse talents and cultures in our community.
Make a difference
Many students participate in field learning opportunities across the U.S. and around the world. They not only learn from top public health professionals; they also make a difference on the issues they care about.
Closer to home, our annual Harvard Chan Community Day of Service connects students, faculty, and staff to nonprofits across Boston. More than 400 members of our community participate.
